Shock as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation struggling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was confronted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the incident has not been established and no one has been arrested have been made, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a premises in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the property overseeing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities stated.
Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but fell down across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were found at the scene.

Police have appealed eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to contact them.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," she stated.
"It is clear he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were willing to tackle. This is a tremendous loss."
She urged the community to not sharing graphic images from the incident, explaining this was an deeply traumatic time, above all for Stock's children.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a television program that premiered on a popular local digital satellite entertainment channel.
