Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
